AK-47 Pistols

I didn't even know something like this existed until I saw one on the Texas gun trader website. I don't know anything about them except that they look pretty cool!

They look pretty cool, but I heard they keyhole a lot and are nothing more than a range toy.

Even if true, I'm not sure that would really be a problem at pistol distances. What I wonder about is the velocity of a rifle round out of such a short barrel... That isn't really any shorter than a Krinkov though, is it? I suppose if you use soft nose bullets, it would still be a fine defensive weapon.

Re: AK-47 Pistols

I have one. AMD65 kit. Used the original barrel at original length. So the only thing "different" is that it is semi only and there is no folding stock. So I don't see any way for that to make the bullets keyhole!

I figured mine would just be a range toy but I've changed my mind. If you hold it as if it had a stock, the sights work just fine. I have a stretchy single point sling on the rear trunnion so I loop that around neck and one shoulder. When I push the AK out to firing position, that band provides some tension to push against. I put a slant style brake on it and muzzle flip isn't bad at all. You can put shot after shot right where you want them. If you want to go through the whole 30 round mag quickly, you can sure as heck do that too. I was amazed at how fast I could dump a mag with real discrete trigger pulls. (Not bumping.)

I mainly use mine now as a rule breaker. Oklahoma doesn't want you driving around with loaded rifles in your truck. But a loaded handgun is OK if you have a CCW. So I'm wearing my normal CCW and the AK is under the seat with one short 20 round mag in place and three 30 round mags next to it. If I end up exchanging gunfire with another person who is using a vehicle for cover, they are going to be very surprised!

I have seen some data out of a 10 inch barrel...~2100 fps. Not too shabby.

I haven't put mine over a chrony but I can tell you that it destroys concrete blocks and big rocks!
